STEVE RACE WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY

ABOUT ME

I first started to take an interest in wildlife at a very early age. My parents took me for walks and picnics in the countryside and even though they were not experts they helped me learn about the natural world around me. I started to take a particular interest in bird life, joined the YOC (Young Ornithologists Club) back in 1980 and what started out as a interest soon turned in to a passion.

It was my biology teacher from my old secondary school who helped me to get to the next level and introduced me to Wildlife Photography. In 1985 I bought my first SLR camera a Zenith E, this was obviously a film camera and I took some great pics (slides) with this camera.

I made the biggest cardinal sin ever and took some time off from photography before just recently finding my way back and reviving the passion I had back in the eighties. I have now entered the digital era of photography and I think it is an unbelievable transition that has evolved. The quality of the camera’s, lenses and what you can achieve now in post production is just endless, with the resulting image probably more superior than what I tried to create back in the early eighties.
