The world famous Corbett National Park is a wonderful destination for wildlife. Tigers will be one of our priority species using local expert guides to seek out the best views and photography possible. Other fantastic mammals here include: Leopard, Jackal, Indian Elephant and Wild Boar. This is a great place for raptors with Lesser Fish Eagle, Crested Serpent Eagle and Changeable Hawk Eagle. Other beautiful birds include Crested Kingfisher, Ibisbill and the amazing Great Hornbill which has to be seen to be believed! These are just a few of the amazing wildlife spectacles which await our trip to this unique area. Streams and rivers are great places for White-capped Water Redstarts and Plumbeous Redstarts.
No trip to Northern India is complete without a trip to the Taj Mahal. This is not only one of the wonders of the world it is also a pretty good place for birds with many Black Kites, Parakeets and other birds in the gardens and waders on the river next to the Taj.
Keoladeo National Park in Bharatpur is one of the best places in the world to get close to a fantastic array of wetland species. A photographers dream if you love water birds! November is a great time to photograph birds such as Painted Stork, Asian Open-billed Stork and many other nesting birds as this is the time of year they nest close to the birding tracks. Based at the Birders Lodge approximately 10 minutes rickshaw drive away from the gates of Keoladeo National Park provides an opportunity to spend quality time here between trips to other sites. At the end of November birds of prey should be migrating through the area such as Indian Spotted Eagle, Greater Spotted Eagle, Bonelli’s Eagle and Booted Eagles. In spring 2017 we were treat to great views of a nesting pair of huge Dusky Eagle Owls!
Staying at the famous Birders Lodge in Bharatpur provides a great opportunity to explore a diverse range of places such as Chambal River. Here birds such as River Tern and Indian Skimmer mingle with Gharial, a fantastic fish-eating crocodile and Gangetic Dolphin.
